BEN'Z BRZ | BUILT TO BE UNIQUE

When we spoke to Ben, one thing we realised was just how much effort and time he put into building his car. It's one of those where you'd see a part, and think, "well I've never seen that on a BRZ before."

So the first question, how did you get into cars? Tell us your early inspirations and how the passion that you have today was formed. Feel free to reference cars you admire, friends and family that steered you along the way, games and movie franchises!

I got into cars because I always watched car related movies as a kid, (typical, I know), and the passion got formed when I realised that I could build the car in a way that represented and expressed me as a person. It would always be me going on social media and looking at the way others around me in the car scene built their cars, and me thinking of ways that I could one day be like them, having a “passion project”.

How did we end up with the vehicle that we’re shooting today?

The BRZ has honestly come a long way, and it’s been difficult for me to find parts that I know are unique for the car itself. I want to be unique with my build, and that is why the build has taken me 2 years to get to this stage; I didn’t want to modify it in a way that every other BRZ owner did, I wanted to stand out. Every single modification on the car right now, has had research put into it to find.

What is the favourite part about your car right now? It can be cosmetic, performance, an experience, or even a memory that you want to share here.

I’d say my favourite part about my car right now is my air suspension, I think it’s so convenient at shoots and in general when you want a low car, but also need to daily it; its so flexible with my needs and I feel like that’s what I love most about it!

Do you have any future plans or a particular thing/modification you want to do with it in the future?

I actually just bought wheels for the car and I’m waiting to install them; so far no plans except for wheels and tyres for a while!

What is the one piece of advice you’d give to someone who is starting their modification journey for the first time?

I would say to not modify your car too quickly. It’s always fun when you install new parts every now and then instead of all within one period of time, because then it’s easy to be financially affected, and getting bored of the car is also another factor if it is built too fast. Take it easy, it’s about the journey!

You can only spend money on EITHER looks or performance, which one will you choose and why?

Looks, because it expresses me more at first glance than power would. Plus, with the road laws, there’s almost no reason for me to go out of my way to modify power for my car, as I don’t intend to track it or race it.
